Overview
n8n is a workflow automation platform. You connect steps on a visual canvas, such as a new email, an AI step and a spreadsheet row, and n8n runs the flow on a trigger or a schedule. It offers more than 1,500 integrations and over 9,000 ready-made workflow templates, and you can add JavaScript or Python when you need it. Use it in n8n Cloud with an account, or run the free Community Edition on your own computer or server. It suits teams that want to automate repetitive work between their apps.
You can start from a working template instead of a blank page, and the same flows run in n8n Cloud or on your own server.

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.
- Import a template from n8n.io/workflows, run it once with test data and check what each step produced.First try · test data

Good to know
Automate a routine hand-off between apps, such as turning form replies into spreadsheet rows and a summary email. In n8n you build or import the flow on a canvas, run it once with test data, then set a trigger or schedule.
Limits
- The n8n Cloud trial lasts 14 days; if you do not upgrade, n8n deletes the instance, and you can download your workflows within 90 days.
- Self-hosting is free under the Sustainable Use License, but you need Docker or Node.js and keep the instance running and updated yourself.
