What it does
Ollama is a free app for downloading and running open AI models, such as Gemma, on your own computer. You pick a model and chat with it in the Ollama window or the terminal, and coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode can use your local models too. Signing in to an Ollama account adds optional cloud models. It suits people who want AI that runs on their own machine or a local model for other tools.
One install gives you a local model runner that many AI apps and agents can plug into, and an airplane mode keeps everything on your machine.
