Overview
NextChat is an open-source AI chat app that you run as a small desktop client or deploy as your own web page. You add API keys for providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or DeepSeek, then chat with any of them in one window, with saved prompt templates called masks, Markdown and code display, and chats stored in your browser. It suits people who already pay for API access and want one simple chat window for several models.
It is a light, long-running open-source chat client: one window for many model providers, with your chat history kept in your own browser.

Good to know
Use one chat window for several model providers with your own API keys. Install the desktop client, or deploy your own web copy with the Vercel button and set an access password.
Limits
- The newest desktop installers on the releases page are from version 2.15.8 (November 2024); later versions, including 2.16.1, have no installers attached.
- The README also promotes a separate hosted NextChat service at nextchat.club. This entry covers the open-source app, which needs your own provider API keys.
