Overview

Jarvis is a desktop voice and text assistant by Baris Sencan that runs speech recognition, the language model and speech on hardware you control. You speak to it by name, even in the middle of a conversation with friends, or type in its chat window, and it keeps a local diary and knowledge graph so it can recall past conversations and plans. Built-in tools cover web search, weather, reading text from screenshots and dictation into other apps. It suits people who want a private assistant without a subscription.

It is built to join a conversation in the room, using what was just said, rather than waiting for a single command.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Jarvis, help me think through my day.First try

  2. Jarvis, what did we decide about [plan] last week?

  3. Jarvis, what's the weather tomorrow, and should we move the picnic indoors?uses the web

  4. Hold the dictation hotkey and say: [your message]. It pastes the text into the app you're using.

Example prompts written by Agent Flows Hub.

Good to know

Talk through your day or a plan out loud and ask Jarvis to weigh in, using what was just said and what it remembers. You can also hold a hotkey to dictate text into another app.

Limits

  • While listening, it keeps a short rolling transcript of nearby speech. Use Pause Voice Listening during meetings or private conversations.
  • It is developed mainly on macOS. Dictation is unavailable on macOS 26 and later, and Windows and Linux behaviour may differ.
