What it does
LM Studio is a free desktop app from Element Labs for finding, downloading and running AI models on your own computer. You search models from Hugging Face, chat with them in a simple interface, connect MCP servers, and can serve models to other apps through an OpenAI-compatible local server. It suits people who want to try open models privately, including offline once the models are downloaded.
It covers the whole local-model routine in one window, from search and download to chat and a local API for other apps.
