A supplier sends you a ten-page PDF in a language you don't read, and you need the gist today.

File Translation is an official Dify chat template. You upload a document and type the language you want; Dify extracts the text and an AI model translates it. In follow-up messages you can ask for a different tone, terms or style, and it translates the document again with those preferences. It suits people who need a quick working translation of a report, letter or manual.
You can steer the translation in plain follow-up messages, such as keeping product names in English, instead of starting over.
Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

| Step | What happens | Data goes to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Upload | You upload a document and type the target language | Dify (cloud or your own) |
| 2 · Extract text | Dify pulls the text out of the file | Dify (cloud or your own) |
| 3 · Translate | An AI model translates the text into your language | Your AI provider |
| 4 · Refine | Follow-up messages on tone, terms or style trigger a new translation | Your AI provider |
Get a working translation of a document in the language you name, then refine it by chatting. The template extracts the text first, so the translation follows the document's wording rather than its layout.
