Overview

Claude in Chrome is Anthropic's browser extension that puts Claude in a side panel in Google Chrome. You ask for a task in plain words; Claude looks at the page you're signed in to, then navigates, clicks, types and fills in forms across tabs, and you can save prompts as shortcuts or run them on a schedule. It works only in Chrome on a computer and needs a paid Claude plan. It suits people who repeat the same web chores, such as gathering information or filling in routine forms.

It works inside your own signed-in browser, so it can handle tasks on sites you already use, and you can approve what it does one site at a time.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  2. Open these three product pages in tabs and make a table of price and delivery time: [paste links]

  3. Fill in this form with these details: [paste details]. Stop before submitting.fills in a form

Good to know

You repeat the same web chore, such as collecting details from several pages or filling in a routine form. Claude in Chrome reads the page in your signed-in browser and carries out the clicks and typing while you watch.

Limits

  • Hidden instructions on a web page can try to redirect Claude. Anthropic advises against using it on sensitive sites such as banking and healthcare, and says to stop a task that acts unexpectedly.
  • The side panel can start in Automatically approve mode, where Claude's own safety check reviews each action. Switch to Manually approve to review every step; purchases and new accounts are off limits in every mode.
