Overview
Devin is Cognition's coding agent. You describe a task, such as a bug fix or a small feature, and it writes and runs the code, tests web apps in its own browser, then hands you the change to review. You can run it in the cloud from the web app, on your computer in Devin Desktop (the new name for Windsurf) or in the terminal. It suits developers and teams who want to hand off routine coding work.
It comes as a desktop app, a terminal tool and cloud sessions, so you can hand a task off and pick it up wherever you work.

Good to know
You have a well-defined coding task, such as fixing a reported bug in a repository. Devin can write and run the change, then hand it back for you to read before it is merged.
Limits
- Sign-in is required, and the Free plan has only a light quota. Heavier use needs a paid plan.
- Devin edits code and runs commands. Read every change it proposes before you merge it, and start with a task that does not change files.
