Gemini CLI is Google's open source AI agent for the terminal. You can ask about and edit large codebases, build new apps from PDFs, images or sketches, and run it in scripts to automate tasks. Since 18 June 2026 it serves only paid Gemini API keys and Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licenses; Google points free and Google AI Pro or Ultra users to Antigravity CLI. It suits developers and teams already paying for Gemini through Google.
It is open source and gives teams that already pay for Gemini a direct, scriptable way to use it from the terminal.
