Overview

Bolt is StackBlitz's AI app builder that works in your web browser. You describe what you want in a prompt; it writes the app, shows it in a live preview and can add a database, sign-in and file storage through its built-in Bolt Cloud. You can publish the project to a free bolt.host web address, and mobile apps are built through its Expo integration. It suits people with no coding experience as well as developers, product managers, marketers and students.

The code it writes is yours to use, including for commercial projects, and you can open and edit it yourself in Code view.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Build a pet name picker app with dropdowns for animal type and name category. Let me try it in the preview.First try · uses tokens

  2. Add email sign-up and login, and let logged-in people save their favorite names.adds a database

  3. Before writing any code, use Plan Mode to talk through a booking page for [your business].

  4. Publish this project and give me the link.goes live on the web

Good to know

You need a landing page, a small web app or a prototype and you don't code. Bolt builds it from a prompt, shows a live preview you can test and publishes it to a web address in one step.

Limits

  • Prompts use tokens: the free plan has 1M a month with a 300K daily limit, and apps with a database take longer and use more.
  • Custom domains need a paid plan, and free published sites show Bolt branding.
