Overview

Eigent is an open-source desktop app where AI agents work on your tasks. You link a folder and describe a goal; one agent, or a team of agents that splits the work, browses the web, runs terminal commands and writes documents, with progress and output files shown in the app. It asks for your input when it gets stuck, can run recurring tasks on a schedule and connects extra tools through MCP. It suits office workers and small teams who want to hand off research, reports or file clean-up.

It lets several agents split one job and work in parallel on your own machine, with the model of your choice, including local ones.

Good to know

Hand a multi-step desk task, such as organising a messy folder or turning a set of files into a summary report, to one agent or a team of agents. You link a local folder, describe the goal and review what the agents report back.

Limits

  • The desktop app asks you to sign in, and free credits for new accounts are paused, so plan to bring your own model API key or a local model.
  • Agents can change files in the folder you link and browse the web; start with a copy of your files and read what the agents report before relying on the result.
