Runs a team of AI agents from one task board, with goals, budgets and approval steps

The problem it solves

You have five agent windows open, and you can no longer tell which one is doing what or how much it has spent.

Before
You juggle terminal tabs, repeat context to each agent and find out about costs afterwards.

Overview

Paperclip is an open-source app that coordinates several AI agents as if they were a small company. You set a goal, add agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI to an org chart, and hand out tasks; each task keeps its thread, files and run history, and spending is tracked against budgets you set. It runs on your own computer or server and opens in the browser. It suits people who already use coding agents and lose track of what each one is doing.

It treats agents like staff on a task board, with roles, budgets and sign-off steps, instead of a pile of terminal tabs.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Create a task for my agent: write a three-line note about [topic] and attach it to the task.First try · uses model credits

  2. Set a monthly budget for the [agent name] agent and pause it when it reaches the limit.

  3. Add an approval step so I sign off before [agent name] starts any new project.

  4. Create a routine that asks [agent name] for a short status report every Monday morning.runs on a schedule

Good to know

You run several AI agents and want one place to assign their work, see progress and cap spending. Paperclip gives each task an owner, a thread and a run history, and links tasks to the goals they serve.

Limits

  • Paperclip does not include a model of its own. Each agent you add needs its own tool or API key, and model costs come from those providers.
  • Anonymous usage telemetry is on by default. The README lists how to turn it off, for example with DO_NOT_TRACK=1.
