Overview
Open Duet is an open source workspace for creating named AI agents, giving them jobs and folders, and letting them work on tasks together. A lead agent can hand work to specialists, agents keep notes you can edit, and routines run on a schedule. You choose the AI engine, such as Claude Code or Codex CLI, and each agent's approval mode decides when it must ask first. It suits people who want several assistants on recurring work.
Each agent has its own approval mode, and a routine never approves an action by itself.

Good to know
You have recurring work, such as a weekly briefing from notes and reports in one folder. Create a lead agent and a few specialists, give them the same workspace, and ask the lead to split the job. Each agent has its own approval mode, which you choose.
Limits
- The README calls the desktop app and self-hosted server experimental; installers are unsigned and the update path has not been checked end to end.
- Open Duet includes no AI model; you supply an engine and pay that provider for model use.
- Connected apps (GitHub, Gmail, Google Calendar) have so far been tried only against a fake Composio service, not the real one.
