The problem it solves

You have a game idea and a hero in your head, but every sprite you draw or find looks different from the last one.

For Indie game makersHobby game developersGame jam teams

Before
You draw each frame by hand, or mix free asset packs that never quite match.
After
You approve one master picture per character; the skill cleans, slices and exports effect, icon and prop frames for Godot, Aseprite or the web.

Overview

Generate 2D Sprite is a skill from Agent Sprite Forge that makes 2D art for games. You describe a character, creature, prop, icon or effect; your agent generates several takes through an image service and you approve one as the master picture. The skill then removes the background, slices and lines up frames, and exports files for Godot, Aseprite or a web game. Animating a character from that master is the job of the repo’s separate video2dsprite skill. It suits indie game makers and hobbyists.

You approve one master picture per character, and later steps, including animation with the repo’s video skill, start from it, so the look stays the same.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Make three takes of a small potion bottle prop for a 2D game, HD finish. Show me the takes before doing anything else.First try · uses image credits

  2. Make a master still of [character description], side view, facing right. Fix take 2 by changing only [one detail].uses image credits

  3. Turn this effect sheet into frames and export it for Godot: [path to sheet]

  4. Give the chosen master still a pixel finish with at most 32 colours.

Good to know

Make a game character or prop from a written description and get frames your engine can load. The skill generates takes through an image service, lets you approve one master picture, then removes the background, slices and exports the frames.

Limits

  • It needs Python and an image route: an API key from a supported provider or a signed-in Codex or Grok CLI. With a key set, it calls the paid service without asking before each call unless you set a budget.
  • Character animation is handled by the separate video2dsprite skill from the same repo; this skill makes master stills, sheets for effects, icons and props, and engine exports.
