Agent skills: find instructions for the job

A skill supplies a method the agent can follow. It is useful when the agent can reach the inputs but needs clearer instructions for turning them into the output you want.

Match the input and output

A meeting-summary skill expects a transcript; a chart skill needs data. Check what the skill reads and what it produces. A broad name such as research is less informative than the actual steps and expected deliverable.

Read beyond SKILL.md

Skills can contain scripts, templates and references. Some require an installed tool or an external account. The file format alone does not establish that the skill is instructions only, offline or free to run.

Confirm your host can discover it

Use the host's supported locations and scope. Copying a skill into one application's folder does not establish that another application can see it. Check which source is selected when names overlap.

Examples from the Library

These pages explain the projects and link to their creators. The selection illustrates different uses; it is not a ranking.

Browse all skills to filter by task, cost and setup effort.

Before you install

A skill is installed but not loading explains the next checks. If you need help with a specific setup, describe the task and where it stopped.
