Overview
text-to-cad is a plugin that teaches your AI agent to make 3D models. You describe a part or an assembly in plain words or with a picture; the agent writes the model as a short Python script, builds it on your computer and shows it in a 3D viewer. You get STEP, STL, 3MF or GLB files, and it can also make dimensioned drawings, check printability and prepare files for 3D printers or cutting services. It suits makers, hobbyists and product designers who want a printable part without learning CAD software.
It turns a sentence into a real, editable 3D model file you can print or send to a manufacturer, not just a picture of one.

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

Good to know
Describe a simple physical part, such as a bracket or a box with a lid, and get a 3D model file. The agent writes the model as a Python script, builds it locally and opens it in a viewer so you can check it before exporting STL or STEP.
Limits
- Usage stats and crash reports are sent by default; the project's privacy policy explains what is sent and how to turn it off.
- On Windows 11 with Smart App Control on, the CAD kernel is blocked; the docs suggest turning that setting off or using WSL.
