The problem it solves

You need to know what research says about a question, but web searches return blogs and opinion pieces instead of the actual studies.

For StudentsResearchersClinicians

Before
You search the web, land on blogs and opinion pieces, and still cannot tell which papers back the claim.

Overview

Consensus is a search engine for scientific research. You type a question in plain words, and it searches about 400 million scholarly articles, ranks the papers by study design, citations and journal quality, and writes a short answer that cites each paper it used. For yes-or-no questions it can show how many studies lean each way, and a Deep Review reads 50 to 100 papers for a longer report. It suits students, researchers, clinicians and anyone who wants evidence rather than opinion.

Every claim links to a real paper, and you can hover a citation to see the exact passage it came from.

Good to know

Check what published studies say about a specific question, such as whether a habit or treatment has an effect. Consensus searches academic papers, writes a short answer and links each claim to the paper behind it.

Limits

  • Answers are written by AI from the papers it finds; open the cited paper before quoting it, as the maker itself advises for important uses.
  • Search ranking and summaries are tuned for English, and papers from the last few weeks may not be in the index yet.
