Steph Ango, known as kepano, is the CEO of Obsidian, the note-taking app built on open file formats and funded by its users.
Teaches your AI assistant to write Obsidian Bases files, the database-style views of notes built into Obsidian. You say what you want to see, such as the books you have not finished; it writes a .base file that picks the matching notes by tag, folder or property and shows them as a table, cards, a list or a map, with formulas and summaries where needed. Made by Obsidian's CEO for people who keep projects, reading lists or plans in an Obsidian vault.
Bases mixes YAML and formulas that are easy to get wrong; the skill carries the syntax rules and checks the file before you open it.
Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

| Output | What it is | Reads |
|---|---|---|
| Filters | Pick notes by tag, folder, property or date | Your files |
| Views | Table, cards, list or map layouts with the columns you choose | Your files |
| Formulas | Computed columns, such as days since a note was created | Your files |
| Summaries | Averages and other summaries at the foot of a column | Your files |
| File edits | Creates or edits .base files in your vault | Your files |
Create a view that lists notes with a given tag as a table, with a computed column. The skill covers filters, formulas, properties, summaries and views in the .base file format.
