Overview

Herdr Terminal is a terminal program for running several coding agents, such as Claude Code or Codex, side by side. It keeps your terminals running in a background server, so closing the window or losing an SSH connection does not stop the work, and it marks each agent as working, blocked, done or idle. You can add saved SSH machines and see all their agents in one list. It suits developers who run more than one agent at a time.

You can detach and come back to the same session later, and the sidebar points to the agent that is stuck instead of making you check every pane.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Start herdr in [project folder], run your coding agent in a pane and ask it to explain the project. Watch its mark in the sidebar.First try · read-only

  2. Detach with ctrl+b q, close the terminal, then run herdr again and check that the agent is still there.keeps agents running

  3. Add a saved SSH machine and list its agents next to your local ones.uses SSH

  4. Ask a second agent in another pane to wait until the first one is blocked, using the herdr command line.agents control panes

Good to know

You run two or three coding agents at once and keep missing the one that stopped to ask a question. Herdr Terminal keeps each agent in its own pane, marks its state, and lets you close the window and come back later.

Limits

  • After a server or machine restart, Herdr restores the saved layout and can resume supported agent sessions, but the original processes do not survive.
  • Agents that Herdr does not support still run in a pane, but they show up as plain terminals without a working or blocked mark.
