Overview

MiMo Code is Xiaomi's open-source coding agent that runs in your terminal. You describe a change in plain words; it reads and edits your files, runs commands and manages Git, and keeps a project memory so it picks up where you left off in the next session. You can sign in to the Xiaomi MiMo Platform, use a ChatGPT plan or add a key from another model provider. It suits developers and technical makers who work in the terminal.

It keeps a memory of each project across sessions and ships ready-made research and office-file skills, so long tasks need less re-explaining.

Good to know

You want an agent to work in a project folder from your terminal and remember what it learned between sessions. MiMo Code reads files, edits them, runs commands and keeps project notes it reloads when you come back.

Limits

  • It needs a model provider before it can work: the first launch asks you to sign in to the MiMo Platform, use a ChatGPT plan, import Claude Code sign-in or paste an API key.
  • The README says the built-in macOS Terminal app is not supported; use iTerm2 or the VS Code terminal instead.
