Overview

Open Code Review is a command-line tool from Alibaba that checks code changes with an AI model. It reads your Git changes, decides which files to check, groups related files together and sends them to the model you configure. You get comments tied to exact lines, and a full-file scan covers code that has no diff. It suits developers who want a second reader on their changes.

Fixed rules, not the model, choose which files get checked, so large changes are covered file by file.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Run `ocr review` on my current changes and compare each comment with the code on that line.First try · sends code to model

  2. Check the changes in [feature-branch] since it diverged from main.sends code to model

  3. Scan the folder [path] for problems, even though it has no diff.sends code to model

  4. Save the review result to result.json so another tool can read it.writes files

Good to know

You have a set of Git changes and want comments on specific lines before they are merged. Run it from the project folder; it checks the changes, or whole files with the scan command, and prints structured comments you can read next to the code.

Limits

  • A model provider must be configured before the first review, unless delegation mode lets your own coding agent do the reviewing.
  • The README says its recall is lower than general-purpose agents, a deliberate trade-off that favours fewer false alarms.
