Elephant-Goldfish Model

Helps your coding agent draft a feature spec, then has fresh reviewers poke holes in it

View on GitHub

The problem it solves

You built a feature from a quick chat with your agent, and only afterwards found the case nobody had thought about.

For Developers using coding agentsProduct people writing specsTechnical leads

Before
You and the agent agree on a plan in chat, and the same blind spots carry straight into the code.
After
The agent drafts a design document with you section by section, and fresh reviewers list missing assumptions and risks before you build.

Overview

Elephant-Goldfish Model (EGM) is an open source plugin published by Google; its README says it is not an officially supported Google product. It helps you plan a software feature before any code is written: the agent that knows your project drafts a design document with you section by section, then reviewer agents that never saw the conversation point out missing assumptions, unclear requirements and risks. You decide which findings to act on and when to build. It suits developers and product people who plan features with Claude Code or Codex.

The reviewers start with no memory of your chat, so they catch the assumptions you and the drafting agent stopped noticing.

Good to know

Plan a feature that needs design decisions before you build it. The drafting agent turns a brainstorm into a design document, and reviewers with no earlier context check it for gaps before you start coding.

Limits

  • Reviews need an agent session that can start fresh subagents; if it cannot, the plugin stops the review.
  • A review does not replace tests or your own judgement. Read each finding and decide whether it applies.
