What it does

The Google Workspace extension, from Google's Gemini CLI extensions team, connects Gemini CLI to your Google account. Ask in plain words to check today's schedule, clear time on your calendar, search Drive or Gmail, or create a Google Doc, and it carries out the steps for you. It adds shortcut commands such as /calendar:get-schedule and /drive:search. It suits people who already use Gemini CLI and keep their work in Google apps.

One install covers mail, calendar, files and documents, so an everyday question about your schedule or inbox can be asked from the same terminal.

Before you start

  • Gemini CLI, installed.
  • A Google account, signed in through your browser
  • Node.js and npm, which the extension uses to start its local server
  • Care with mail or files from strangers: hidden instructions can misdirect the agent
  • Free option: The extension is free; Gemini CLI itself needs a paid Gemini API key or a Code Assist license
  • It runs scripts and connects to the internet. Read the official page to see what it does before installing.
  • Free. Nothing to pay.
