Overview

Osaurus is a free Mac app for AI agents that live on your computer. You chat with a built-in assistant or create your own agents, each with its own memory, and they can work in a folder you choose, browse the web, run code in a sandbox and use Calendar, Reminders, Notes or Mail after you approve. It runs local models offline and can also use cloud models such as OpenAI or Anthropic. It suits Mac users who want a personal assistant that keeps its data on their machine.

Memory, agents and tools stay on your Mac and work offline with local models, and you can swap models without losing any of them.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Which model are you using right now, and what can you do for me?First try · on your Mac

  2. Create an agent called Organizer, give it my Downloads folder and list the files by type without moving anything.

  3. Summarise this PDF in five bullet points: [attach PDF]

  4. Add a reminder for Friday at 9am to call [name].writes to Reminders

Good to know

Run a personal assistant on your Mac with a local model, then give a custom agent a working folder or an Apple app to act on. Each send, delete or typed browser action waits for your approval.

Limits

  • Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports are both on by default, each with its own switch in Settings, Privacy. The telemetry page says analytics never include chats, files or keys.
  • The isolated Linux sandbox for running code needs macOS 26. On earlier versions it falls back to a macOS sandbox with all-or-nothing network access.
