Overview

Mercury Agent is an open-source assistant that runs as a background service on your own computer. You reach it from a terminal, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal or a local web dashboard, and it can read and write files, run commands, research the web and work through scheduled tasks. It keeps a memory of your preferences on your disk, asks before acting outside the folders you allow and stays within a daily token budget you set. It suits people who want one always-on agent they can message from their phone.

The same agent, memory and permission rules apply whichever chat app you use, and it keeps working after you close the terminal.

Good to know

You want one assistant that remembers your projects and preferences and that you can message from your phone. Mercury runs as a background service, so a scheduled task or a request sent from Telegram keeps going after you close the terminal.

Limits

  • It needs a model provider key, a local model or Mercury Cloud. Actions follow the permission mode you choose, and the project asks you to review what it does, especially in Allow All mode.
  • Skills installed from its community skill site are contributed by others; read a skill before installing it.
