The problem it solves

You love your business idea, but you can't say how many sales a day it needs before it stops losing money.

For First-time foundersSmall business ownersPeople planning a side business

Before
You guess at margins in a spreadsheet and hope the rent and the slow first months work out.
After
You get a CFO note with your margin, break-even per day, cash needed and three ways to improve it, each traced to an input.

Overview

Founder CFO is one of eleven skills in Jake Schincariol's Founder pack. You give it your price, the cost of one sale, monthly costs, startup spend and expected sales, and it runs a small calculator that writes the profit per sale, the margin, break-even per day, year 1 month by month, cash needed and payback, plus what-if tables. It suits people planning a small business, such as a café or online shop, who want the numbers before spending money.

Every number comes from a script working on inputs you can check, and guesses are marked as estimates instead of mixed in with facts.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Run the CFO on the example café numbers that come with the skill and show me the break-even point and profit margin.First try · writes to founder/

  2. Here are my price, costs and startup spend: [paste numbers]. Find my real profit margin.writes to founder/

  3. What happens to year 1 if my price drops to [new price]?

  4. How much cash do I need before this pays for itself, and in which month is the startup spend earned back?

Good to know

Check whether a small business idea makes money before you commit to rent or stock. The skill collects your price and costs in one file, runs a calculator on it and writes a short note on margin, cash and the assumption that moves the result most.

Limits

  • It needs Python 3.8 or newer to run its calculator. Results are only as good as your inputs, and the skill states it is not financial, tax or legal advice.
  • It is built to read files from the other Founder skills, such as pricing and the buyer panel. On its own it asks you for those numbers instead.
