Goal Brief Writer

by KhazixSkillGet organised

Turns a rough idea into a written goal brief that an agent can work through on its own

View on GitHub

The problem it solves

You give an agent a long job in one line, and hours later it has taken a shortcut, such as deleting the tests to make them pass.

For People running long agent jobsDevelopersTechnical makers

Before
You write a one-line goal and hope the agent guesses what done means.
After
You paste one brief that defines done, lists forbidden shortcuts and keeps progress in a PROGRESS.md file.

Overview

Tell it a rough idea and it checks your project first, asks at most five questions, then writes one goal brief of up to 4,000 characters to paste into your agent's goal mode. The brief states what done means, which files may change, which shortcuts are forbidden and how progress is saved so a new session can carry on. It suits people who hand long jobs to Claude Code or Codex.

It names the shortcuts an agent must not take, such as deleting tests to make them pass, before a long unattended run starts.

Try these first

Start with the first one: it is a small task you can check easily.

  1. Write a goal for the agent: add input checks to [function name] in this project and keep every test passing.First try · reads your project

  2. Break this goal down for me: [paste your idea]

  3. Write me a /goal prompt to rename the files in [folder] to the new scheme, and list what the agent must not touch.

  4. Split this job into separate briefs so several agents can work in parallel: [paste your idea]

Good to know

You want an agent to run a long job on its own. Leader inspects your project, asks a few questions and writes one goal brief with a clear finish line, allowed paths and checks, so the run is easier to inspect when it ends.

Limits

  • The brief is capped at 4,000 characters; a job too big for that is split into separate briefs, one at a time.
  • The brief runs unattended only in a tool with a goal mode; without one, you paste it and send it as a normal message.
