What it does

It teaches the agent to create and edit Obsidian Canvas files: boards of notes, links and groups joined by arrows. You can ask for a mind map, study map or project board and then drag things around yourself. Obsidian users get a visual workspace built from their ideas.

It comes from Obsidian's CEO, and the result is a board you keep editing rather than a static image.

Before you start

  • An AI agent that supports skills, such as Claude Code or Codex.
  • Obsidian (or another JSON Canvas viewer) to see the board
  • No scripts, no internet. It is instructions only and works on your computer.
  • Free. Nothing to pay beyond your AI agent's own plan.

How to start

  1. Open your AI agentClaude Code, Codex or another agent that can install skills.
  2. Paste the install requestIt asks your agent to read the files first, explain what they do and wait for your OK.
  3. Give it a first taskDescribe what you want in your own words, and check the first result before relying on it.

Steps follow the creator's instructions.
