What it does

Document Q&A is an official Langflow starter template. You first add your files (PDF, CSV, text or Markdown) to a Langflow knowledge base, then type a question in the chat; the flow pulls the most relevant passages and an AI agent answers from those passages only, saying so when the answer is not there. It suits anyone who wants to ask a stack of reports, notes or manuals questions instead of reading them end to end.

Your documents stay in a knowledge base on your own Langflow, with no separate vector database to set up, and the answers stick to what they say.

Before you start

  • langflow, on your own server or the platform's cloud.
  • Langflow on your computer: Langflow Desktop (macOS, Windows), Docker or the Python package
  • An API key from an AI model provider, such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google
  • An embedding model enabled in Langflow (for example OpenAI) to build the knowledge base
  • Your documents added to a Langflow knowledge base before you ask questions
  • Pay per use. The AI service it calls charges for what you use.
