What it does

AnythingLLM is a free, open source app for chatting with your documents and using AI agents. You add PDFs, Word files or text to a workspace, then ask questions and get answers with source citations, using its built-in local model engine or a cloud provider you choose. The desktop app is for one person on Mac, Windows or Linux; a Docker version adds multi-user access for teams.

It turns a pile of files into an assistant that answers with citations, without setting up a vector database or model server yourself.

Before you start

  • A computer with macOS, Windows or Linux.
  • A Mac, Windows or Linux computer; 16 GB of RAM is recommended for local models
