What it does

Save to Spotify is Spotify's plugin and companion program for AI agents. You point your agent at something you have, such as a topic, an article, a PDF or a meeting transcript, and it writes a script, narrates it with a voice engine, adds chapters and a cover, and saves the finished episode to your own Spotify library. Examples from Spotify include a morning briefing, a meeting recap, a travel guide and a bedtime story. It suits anyone who would rather listen than read.

The result lands in the Spotify app you already use, so a personal audio briefing plays on your phone, car or speaker like any other episode.

Before you start

  • Claude Code, installed.
  • A Spotify account, connected once through your browser
  • The free save-to-spotify program, which the plugin offers to install for you
  • A voice engine: Kokoro runs free on your computer, or an OpenAI or ElevenLabs API key
  • On Windows, Git Bash to run the installer
  • Free option: The plugin and program are free; the docs do not say which Spotify plans can save episodes
  • It connects to the internet. Read the official page to see what it does before installing.
  • Free. Nothing to pay.
